BIOGRAPHY
Coming from a family of Ugandan refugees who came to Sweden just before his birth, Alexander Karim trained as an actor in Los Angeles after finishing high school. Returning to his native country a few years later, the budding comedian was managed by his brother Baker , in films like Rampljus , Fyra kvinnor and Malcom . This last short film, in which he plays the title role, won the audience prize and the jury prize at the Gothenburg Film Festival, and was selected in 2002 for the Critics’ Week at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival . His other brother, also a director, also gave him a role, alongside Linda Zilliacus and Alexander Skarsgård , in the film Om Sara .

Varying genres, the public discovers it in the register of comedy ( Äntligen midsommar! ), thriller ( Varg Veum – Svarte får ) and thriller ( The Last Weekend ). From 2012, Alexander Karim took on the recurring role of Niklas Saxlid in the Johan Falk film series , with Jakob Eklund in the lead. Seen in season 2 of Real Humans , he opposite Nicolas Cage in the thriller The Sentinel and shares the bill with Simon J. Berger , Torkel Petersson and Susanne Thorson in Swedish Heist .

The actor is becoming a little better known internationally with the series Tyrant , about a family in power in a Middle Eastern country. He plays Ihab Rashid, the leader of the resistance eager to overthrow the tyrant who reigns as a true dictator from his opulent palace. Initially recurring, his character was promoted to regular in the following two seasons.

After the touching Double Play about the colonial unrest in a small Caribbean island, Alexander Karim was offered, in 2018, the main role of The lawyer , a series about a promising lawyer who decides to infiltrate a criminal organization to avenge the death of his parents. In the process, he is one of the protagonists of the polar thriller White Hell , set in the freezing waters of Greenland, then tries to solve the murder of the Swedish Prime Minister in We Got This: detectives in spite of themselves .

In 2019, Alexander Karim published his first novel “Den extraordinära berättelsen om Jonas Paulssons plötsliga död”, followed by a children’s book entitled “Modigast i världe”n, co-written with his wife, Malin. His brother Baker is directing him again, in 2021, in Glaciär , a film about a man and a woman quarantined in a hotel during a deadly pandemic. The same year, he was in the credits of The Box , a series led by Anna Friel , about a female cop possessed by supernatural forces.

France 2 viewers will find him in June 2023 in Abysses , a disaster series in which marine animals begin to attack men, threatening all of humanity everywhere on the planet. Alexander Karim plays Professor Sigur Johanson, one of the scientists trying to understand what is happening in order to save the world.
