BIOGRAPHY
Jon Batiste is an American musician and television personality born in Louisiana in the center of a family of music lovers. At just 8 years old, Jon played percussion in the Batiste Brothers Band, but switched to piano at age 11 at the suggestion of his mother. By age 17, Jon released his first musical album, while continuing his education at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. By 2011, Jon graduated from the prestigious Julliard school and, during his time at that institution, released his second album. Subsequently, Jon began playing with the group of which he would become leader and with which he still tours the United States: Stay Human. Although he had already flirted with the idea of forming a group, it was not until 2011 that Stay Human consolidated itself as a band and released its first musical album. Jon Batiste is the musical director and leader of the group that accompanies Stephen Colbert on his television program Late Show with Stephen Colbert . Likewise, Jon has collaborated with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Wonder, among others. In 2021 he was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of Best Score for his work on Soul , a Pixar film.
