Kelsey Wingert is a Texan who was born to Betsy and Greg Wingert on June 20, 1992. Although a native of Sugar Land, Wingert has lived in various cities including Florida, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Atlanta. Kelsey became interested in sports and journalism at a young age, so she was sure of her career even before she graduated from high school.
Her academic records show that she graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 2010 and then majored in broadcast journalism with a minor in physical education from Louisiana State University (LSU). Both in high school and as a student at LSU, Kelsey Wingert was an active student and began her career on campus. In addition to leading the PR team for her Delta Zeta sorority, she was the LSU campus correspondent for ESPNU.

The young and charismatic reporter’s first jobwas not in broadcasting. As a student, she took on a few part-time jobs at local companies to support her finances while pursuing her goal of becoming a sportswriter. After gaining some experience at school, she made her debut as a broadcaster while still a student. Kelsey got a job as a sports and statistics reporter for Tiger TV.
She had a brief two-year stint at LSU before returning to her hometown. While in Texas, she worked as a sports intern for a Houston-based NBC affiliate, KPRC-TV. Her next job was as an assistant for the SEC network and then for ESPN. After college, Wingert moved to Alexandria, Louisiana, where she got a job as a sideline journalist for CST and later as an athletic director/news anchor for KALB-TV.
Kelsey Wingert later moved to the sports city of Atlanta, and currently works as a host and field reporter for FOX Sports Southeast and FOX Sports South. She joined the network in 2015 and covered the Atlanta Braves during the Major League Baseball (MLB) season the next year. Kelsey Wingert suffered an eye injury in early 2018 while on duty for a game between the Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. It was normal until a midfielder hit a foul ball that unexpectedly landed on Wingert’s face. Many were initially unsure how badly the reporter was affected, but it was later revealed via social media that the ball struck Wingert in the eye and she was taken to the hospital.
A CAT scan revealed that Kelsey had fractured his eye socket and had to take some time off to recover from the injury. Prior to the accident, Wingert was known to frequently wear glasses on the air and it is uncertain if the ball affected her eyesight.
