Popular as Lizzo, the rapper was born MelissaViviane Jefferson on April 27, 1988 in Houston, Texas. It was there that she was raised until age 9 when her family moved to Detroit. She was raised alongside two older siblings by parents who ran their own business.
Lizzo started music as she was still a very young girl in sixth grade when she started playing the flute, after her school’s band director asked her if she was interested in learning the instrument.
