BIOGRAPHY
The actress Trinidad Quintana Nuñez de Kogan, better known as Rosita Quintanta , was born on July 15, 1925 in the Saavedra neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She studied at the María Auxiliadora nuns’ school and it was her grandmother, Carmen Alonso, a guitarist and tango performer, who got her interested in singing. She secretly performed tangos for her school friends, but when the nuns found out about her, they expelled her from it, because tangos were considered indecent and suburban. It was then that her grandmother gave her her first guitar and took her to singing classes. At the age of 15 she made her theater debut singing for ‘The Caro Brothers Orchestra’. On some occasion, Jorge Negrete, on tour in South America, saw her work and invited her to Mexico, where in 1947 she made her debut in ‘El Patio’. In 1948 she appeared for the first time on the big screen with the film La santa del barrio and later she began to work with “Tin Tan” in films such as Calabacitas tenderes , Soy charro de levita and No me defiendas compadre . She married Sergio Kogan, with whom she had a son. Already well into the 1960s, Rosita and Sergio suffer a very bad car accident in which he dies. Among the singer and actress’s latest works are the television series Peregrina and the film Club Euthanasia (2005).
