Ben Sasse greeted Mother Earth on the 22nd of February 1972, when he was born as Benjamin Eric Sasse to the family of Gary Lynn and Linda Sasse in Plainview, Nebraska, USA. His father worked two jobs so he could support his family as a high school teacher and football coach.
He has a long list of college degrees that all started with his high school education at Fremont High School, in Fremont, Nebraska. He graduated in 1990 as the top student in his class, after which he enrolled at Havard University. Building on his leadership, he specialized in government and obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1994.
Of course, his thirst for more knowledge was not, so he enrolled in the Graduate Institute of St. John’s College, where he earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. Senator Ben Sasse also studied at Yale University for a doctorate in history, a master of arts and a master of philosophy from the same institution.

Prior to becoming Senator Ben Sasse, Ben pursued a career in management consulting right out of college. He began his career at the Boston Consulting Group as an associate consultant in September 1994. After working for the consulting firm for just over a year, Ben joined a Christian organization called Christians United for Reformation (CURE). merged with the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals (ACE)
Moving on to that, the up-and-coming politician was appointed chief of staff of the United States Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Policy, a position he held between 2004 and 2005, after which he also worked with member Republican representing Nebraska, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, also just six months in 2005 (January-July), when he got another job with the United States Department of Homeland Security in Washington, as a consultant on national security issues
During this time, Ben Sasse worked at the University of Texas as a part-time professor, but then worked full-time between September 2005 and December 2006 before working as a consultant to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS ). He would go on to serve as assistant secretary in an HHS unit after being nominated by then-US President George W. Bush and confirmed by the US Senate.
He served as President of Midland University (formerly Midland Lutheran College) after his appointment in October 2009. He was the 15th President of the institution, his tenure being described as a resounding success. Senator Ben Sasse is also an author with two powerful books to his name: The Disappearing American Adult (2017) and Them: Why We Hate Each Other – and How to Heal Each Other (2018).
Political career
In October 2013, Ben Sasse expressed interest in running for the Nebraska U.S. Senate seat. The seat would be vacant the following year, Republican Senator Mike Johanns, who was sitting in the Senate at the time, announced that he would not run again. Sasse’s announcement was very well received in his state and his fundraiser was a success, as the amount received set the record for the largest amount raised from individual donors in the state.
He would ride on such good will and celebrate his nomination with a landslide victory over other experienced politicians. This propelled him to the November 4, 2014 general election, where he also defeated Democratic Party candidate David Domina with 64.4% of the vote cast.
