Popular among fans as TruDog or sometimes Tru, McKeehan was the first child of Amanda and Toby McKeehan on September 4, 1998 in Franklin, Tennessee. He was raised alongside four siblings by parents who take Christian values seriously.
Even though he was raised to be a very popular father, a lot of things in his personal life have always remained hidden. However, it is known that he went to high school and graduated, but nothing more is known other than that.
When it comes to his musical background, it can easily be said that Truett was born into music and it has always been a part of him since childhood. The first recorded performance he did was in 2001, even before the age of five, when he performed his father’s song, Extreme Days. He was born Kevin Michael McKeehan on October 22, 1964 in the United States. His music career began in 1987 as a member of the Christian rap and rock trio DC Talk, which also counted Michael Tait and Kevin Max among its members. In 2001 he released his first solo album, Élan after his band had gone on hiatus the previous year.

Truett McKeehan’s mother, Amanda McKeehan is of Jamaican descent and she was raised in Jamaica. His parents are strong Christians. After meeting and marrying TobyMac, she still complained that she hated America and she sometimes returned to her home country, but her husband kept coming back for her and she later accepted America as her homeland. In 2007, she became an American citizen.

Miraculously, a woman from their church met them and asked if they wanted to adopt a set of twins that a woman was about to give birth to. Truett McKeehan like all the other members of the family is very supportive of his younger brother, Moses, who has been diagnosed with a medical condition, muscular dystrophy, a condition that gradually weakens the muscles. Moses’ life expectancy is only in his early twenties due to his disability. As a result, all of the family members were very close and gave him all the love and support he needed.
