Any teenager or young adult born between the mid-90s and early 2000s must have grown up watching LazyTown. Remember that colorful children’s series that aired on Nickelodeon from 2003, the one featuring eight-year-old Stephanie (played by Julianna Rose Mauriello)?
The show which has been dubbed into no less than thirty languages (including Icelandic) and broadcast in over 180 countries, centers on an eight-year-old girl – Stephanie, who moves to LazyTown to live with her uncle, Mayor Meanswell, only to be shocked by the idle lifestyle of all her driving neighbors.
With the help of a superhero named Sportacus, Stephanie tries to teach the people of Lazy Town to participate in more athletic hobbies. In reality, her goal is to get the townspeople moving and has she succeeded? Well, you might have to find out yourself.
Julianna Rose Mauriello sadly left the show after the second season because she aged for the role and was replaced by Chloe Lang. Not much has been heard of the young actress since then, as she doesn’t seem to be a fan of acting anymore. Where is she now and what is she engaged in? Learn more below.
Who is Julianna Rose Mauriello?
Mauriello is an American actress of Italian origin. Singer and dancer born in Irvington, New York, on May 26, 1991. She is of Irish, Italian and German descent. Her father is Italian and her mother is German with Irish roots.
Julianna was drawn to the arts at some point at a young age coming from a family with a background in the performing arts. Her older siblings were involved in the arts, and she grew up watching them perform in various school plays and theater performances, which further fueled her love for the arts. Alex Mauriello, her older sister, is also an actress.
She enrolled in stunt Irish lessons, at an early age. She also specializes in gymnastics, ballet, jazz dance and jigging. She also participated in commercials and reading scripts and eventually attended the New York Professional Performing Arts School.
When she was a child, she starred in a Nutcracker party scene at SUNY Purchase. Her stage debut came in 2002, when she appeared in Classic Oklahoma as Lil Titch. After that, she starred in a Gypsy musical fable. The following year, she landed the role of Stephanie in the Nickelodeon children’s series, LazyTown – which brought her so much fame.
Mauriello also speaks a bit of the Icelandic language which she learned during LazyTown’s Icelandic Shot. During her time there, she received Iceland’s EDDA Awards and also participated in shows and presentations in 70 countries and 5 continents.
She has also appeared in TV commercials, movie specials and collaborated with Disney Entertainment, Volvo, Wendy’s and AstraZeneca (Nexium).
In 2006, she was nominated by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its Daytime Emmy Award, in the category of “Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series”.

After her role in LazyTown, Julianna left the spotlight to devote more time to her studies. In February 2018, the LazyTown star announced via her official Instagram account that she was now qualified as an occupational therapist and was now seeking employment.
So far, she has made some contributions to the fashion industry and done some design work. She also worked on the LazyTown Extra series from 2008 to 2014.
A rumor circulating says that JuliannaRose Mauriello is a lesbian. She would have had a relationship with Amanda Burwasser (2004-2008). This claim, however, has not been confirmed, as the multi-talented actress is a bit secretive in her personal life. Furthermore, she has also been linked to American rapper Lil Jon.
