Laurence Fishburne’s Bio, Age
Born on July 30, 1961 in Laurence Fishburne, he spent his childhood years in his birthplace, Georgia. The actor grew up in a troubled home. His mother, Hatte Bell, who taught middle school math and science, and his father, Laurence John Fishburne, a youth corrections officer, separated when they were young. Consequently, he moved to New York City with his single mother and attended Lincoln Square Academy.
But long before he joined the academy, Laurence had already carved out an attractive career in the industry. At the age of 10, he made his acting debut under the name Larry Fishburne at the Manhattan Theater, appearing in the work In My Name and Days. Two years later he won a role on the daytime soap opera A Life to Live (1968). He next joined the cast of the 1975 film Cornbread, Earl and Me .
Laurence spent the rest of 1970 getting small roles in films like Apocalypse Now before taking a long hiatus from the film circle. In 1983 he reappeared and made another successful collaboration with Francis Ford Coppola in the film Rumbled Fish, Gardens of Stone among others.
In the 80s his film performance was also limited to small appearances in television and films. However, Fishburne got a chance to step up his filmography in the 1990s when he played Jimmy in King of New York and later appeared in Boys Around. It was around this time that he also appeared in the popular television series Tribeca and although the show didn’t last long, he won an Emmy Award for his role. He was also awarded a Tony Award for his stage work in the play Two Trains Run written by August Wilson.
In 1993, Laurence Fishburne appeared alongside Angela Basset in a memorable role in What’s Love Got To Do With It. The film, based on the book I Tina , co-written by Kurt Loder and Tina Turner, cleared the space for Fishburne.
Two years later, Laurence became better known for playing Maurice Phipps, a West Indian professor in the film Higher Learning. Not only did his fame in film skyrocket, he also won the Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his success in the industry. It also allowed the actor more opportunities to perform in a variety of roles in famous films, such as Othello, Event Horizon, etc. However, none of his performances to date have made as much waves as his role in the film The Matrix.
Since the role he has been touted as one of the best paid actors in Hollywood. He has made numerous appearances in various Echo engagements, including reprising his role in the Matrix sequels (Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions) in 2003 and roles in Contagion, Predator and Hannibal.
Some of his recent work includes Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Passengers, and John Wick: Chapters. He was also cast in Black-ish and Ant-man and the Wasp . Fishburne voiced the character Thrax in the animated action film Osmosis Jones . His other amazing vocal work includes narrating the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Today he is still represented in the film circles with many awards and nominations in his name.
Who is his wife, daughter ?
Laurence Fishburne was able to create a desirable career in the industry, but he failed to make it in his love life. He has said, “I’ll do twice,” but none of his marriages stand today.
His first marriage was to the beautiful, not-so-famous actress Hajna O. Moss, whom he fell in love with in the early days of his career. They married in 1985 and divorced just five years later. Their marriage produced two adult children, Langston and Montana, who were born in 1987 and 1991, respectively. After their split, Laurence turned his full attention to his career and stayed away from any known engagement.
In 2001, the actor gave love another chance when he asked highly successful actress Gina Torres to marry him. A year later they married and in 2007 they had a daughter named Delilah. Just like his first marriage, his love affair with Gina Torres fell through in 2017 and since then he has had no more relationship drama than the embarrassment of his daughter Montana, who became a porn star with aspirations of becoming as famous as Kim Kardashian.
Montana broke his father’s heart after it was reported that she was making her x-rated film debut in 2010. The move, which embarrassed Laurence, prompted the actor to end his relationship with Montana. In 2014, it was reported that she quit X-rated films to start stripping. However, it looks like Montana has changed his mind and stuck to porn. She went to rehab and faced multiple arrests for driving under the influence of Falun Gong.
